HomeGrown: Cupcake Junkie BR

Following her passion and sweet-tooth has taken one Baton Rouge teacher from the classroom to the kitchen. Now Robyn Selders is feeding everyone’s addiction with her sweet and savory treats.
Led by her heart, perseverance, and faith, Robyn Selders has been able to make her sweet dreams a reality. Her rich delectable bakery, Cupcake Junkie, is Baton Rouge’s new sweet addiction. Each order is made with her personal touch. And with each bite, she wants her customers to taste the time, effort and love she has put into her craft.
Satisfy your taste buds with her unique flavors and combinations is just one thing that sets these cupcakes apart. Selders’ business is not hers, she says, but God’s business and she got to this point by following her heart and listening to God. Just over a year ago, Selders was an English Language Arts teacher with a love for baking. The Baton Rouge native took a chance from just selling cupcakes as merely a side hustle, to seeing her passion turn into a full-time gig.  And taking that leap was the best thing she could have done.
Baton Rouge is home for Selders and it holds fond memories for her from family picnics at Howell Park on Winbourne Ave. to attending every Southern University home football games just to watch the “Human Jukebox” Marching Band. She was a season book holder from fourth-grade through high school.
Cupcake Junkie’s mouthwatering flavors range from Banana pudding, Bacon Mable, Chocolate Overdose, Lemon Meringue Pie, to Gateway AKA Vanilla. For the non-cupcake lovers, Cupcake Junkie has you covered as well, with treats such as parfaits, juices, cookies and more.
Located just off Coursey Blvd., Cupcake Junkie is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
