#WCW: Sloane Stephens

Our #WCW goes to the Millennial goddess who is tearing it up on the tennis courts!
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, 24-year-old Florida native Sloane Stephens beat Anastasija Sevastovava in two sets, and is moving up to the US Open Semifinals. But who is this savvy tennis player, and will we see more of her impactful back swings?
Stephens had a successful career in 2012 when she reached the second week of The Grand Slam, and then again in 2013 when she reached the semifinals at the Australian Open where she defeated one of our favorite tennis players, Serena Williams. Her career continued as Sloane ranked 11 in the world and achieved claiming the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) title at the 2015 Citi Open.
Sloane had suffered a stress fracture in her foot last year, but she is back now with a vengeance and a pactful racket! The last three of her games have been up against ranked opponents, but this hasn’t stopped the black beauty. The game against Sevastovava was a close game, with the two of them being neck-to-neck when Sloane won: 6-3, 3-6, 7-6.
The now 83rd ranked tennis player will play the winner of the Venus Williams vs. Petra Kvitova match. Even though both of these players are at a higher rank than she, Sloane has proven herself to not be bothered by the competition or the rank numbers.
So if anything, be like Sloane this Wednesday: fearless.
