beFEARLESS: #InfertilityUncovered with the Easts

April 21st-27th is National Infertility Awareness Week. RESOLVE, the national infertility association establish National Infertility Awareness Week in 1989 to help spread awareness that anyone can have issues starting a family–regardless of gender, sex or race.

Last year, beBATONROUGE started a health series called “beWELL”, but it was later released as “beFEARLESS: Women’s Health”. Before releasing the series, we found a married couple dealing with a unique problem, both of them were experiencing unexplained infertility. When you first think of infertility, you typically think that the woman’s body is the only body to focus on. However, men are affected by infertility as well, and beBATONROUGE is happy to be able to help bring awareness to this health issue.

Sherry East, a Health and Physical Education teacher, was 32 years old when diagnosed with an Ovarian Cyst and Fibroids. Her husband, Joseph East, was 36 years old when he was diagnosed with male infertility. Through facing their struggle of conceiving children, they both stood united and chose to #beFEARLESS.
