Celebrating a "Big Victory"

VICTORY is yours and if you ever forget God’s plan for you, play Erica Jones’ new single “Big-Victory” to remind yourself just how strong God is!

On April 19, Good Friday, Jones released her single “Big-Victory” as a way to commemorate Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.

“What better day to release “Big-Victory.” Jesus was crucified, but on the third day he rose with all power in his hands! My God is big, strong and mighty and his plan for me is Victory-Victory-Victory,” said Jones.

The upbeat song will turn any mood around and make you smile. But it will also remind you of the blessings in your life. The song “Big” is a remake with a twist Jones said. “A portion of it was recorded before, so it has familiarity, but the victory part of it is something fresh and gives it an extended message if you will,” said Jones.

World-renowned musician and Billboard Music chart-topping producer Mike Bereal produced the track with Jones. Bereal worked with rapper Snoop Dogg on his gospel album, “The Bible of Love.”

Jones’ inspiration for “Big-Victory” came from the scripture 1 Corinthians 15:57 which says, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“I want people to listen to the simplistic lyrics and reflect on anything they may be going through and apply God’s promises. He is big, and his plan for all of us is victory. He will never leave nor forsake you; there is nothing he cannot do! Victory-I got it,” said Jones.

The message of the song tells us that if you know God, you already know there is nothing he can’t do. Jones said that when she fully grasped the entire message, that His plan for her is VICTORY, no matter what she goes through, it sealed the deal that this was the song for her.

Jones has been singing all her life, starting in church where music was instilled in her at a young age. “I sang my first solo to Whitney Houston’s ‘Greatest Love of All’ in pre-school and had been singing ever since,” said Jones.

Jones shares her love for singing not just with her voice but with her services. She serves as Minister of Music at Harvest Time Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. and the praise team at ACTS Outreach to name a few.

Gospel may be Jones’ foundation and yes passion, but she says she doesn’t limit herself to one genre of music. “I love all genres of music and grew up listening to them all. So, I certainly sing other genres of music; it’s what makes me unique and who I am as an artist.”

“For me, singing is freeing. It also satisfies me and completes me, if I couldn’t sing I would be without purpose, so singing means everything to me,” said Jones.

When Jones isn’t inspiring others with her music, she is serving up inspiration on her Instagram page. There she continues her positive vibes and reminds you where to keep your focus.

“Everyone isn’t afforded the same things in life; others are more fortunate than others. But it’s not so much about what life hands you but what you do with what you get,” said Jones. “Life has taught you nothing if you hold grudges, seek revenge, don’t forgive, or show compassion. God doesn’t bring you lessons to close your heart, but he brings them to open it, by developing compassion, learning to listen, seeking to understand, instead of speculating and having empathy for others. If he brought perfect people into your life, how would you learn lessons that help shape and mold you? Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it.”

Jones encourages us to trust ourselves. “Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity. March to the beat of your drum. And stubbornly refuse to fit in,” said Jones.

What’s next for Jones?

You can catch Jones singing down in New Orleans at the Jazz Fest to sing with another beBATONROUGE favorite Justin Garner, then joining the Southern University’s Gospel Choir on April 28. On May 3 she will be performing with Universal Language at the Grind. Plenty of opportunities to witness a voice of power in person.
