Don't Just Stay Woke, #WorkWOKE

“I am so tired of hearing the word WOKE,” said people throughout America.
Well candidly, most people probably are, but there is something to be said about pairing it with the word WORK. Taking it way back and referencing the Bible, James 2:14-22 boasts that faith without works is dead. #FACTS
If you read further into the scripture, it references the patriarch of faith Abraham and goes on to say,  “You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.”
During her State of the Union special on BET, political strategist and commentator Angela Rye challenged viewers (6:43) to mobilize their communities to ensure the present reality doesn’t become a permanent future.
On Thursday, May 10th, State Representative Edward “Ted” James in conjunction with beBATONROUGE, Liberty Bank and Dr. Leah S. Cullins, his host, Rye as a moderator, for a conversational panel with local leaders including: Police Chief Murphy Paul, Councilman Lamont Cole, Leslie Ricard Chambers, ESG, Gary Chambers and Ada Goodly. The conservation will be centered around issues in the Baton Rouge community.
At the event, there will be an opportunity for voter registration, a chance for individuals to sign up with Liberty Bank, and a chance for local businesses to sign up and register for beBATONROUGE’s new black business directory.
If you won’t be able to see Rye at Southern’s graduation commencement the next day, this is the perfect time for you to learn more on how to #WORKWOKE
